Jason Tarbart

Jason Tarbart is an experienced finance professional and works with Rivermayn to package redevelopment proposals for the firm’s clients.  Jason’s career in accounting and finance over the past 20 years has focused on both commercial real estate and energy. Jason currently works to underwrite and structure debt and equity financing for the commercial real estate development and value add redevelopment opportunities.  

Following the financial crisis he worked on multiple financial restructuring projects.  He consulted on restructuring debt on multiple 50+ unit retail petroleum portfolios following the financial crisis and worked with a petroleum operating company to restructure and recapitalize.  Jason was senior vice president for a private equity sponsor focused on opportunistic real estate investments.  The firm focused on value add, development and special situations in the western United States.  He acted as the Chief Financial Officer of a platform sponsored by the fund that invested in the convenience & gas retail sector.  While in this post, he acquired and operated a retail petroleum portfolio with over 200 units in five western states, sold the assets individually to owner operators as well as repositioning assets and selling to developers for other uses maximizing the value of the portfolio, and designed a retail petroleum financing platform for owner operators that was eventually sold as an independent finance company still operating today.

Jason’s early background was in real estate finance, most recently at Capmark/GMAC Commercial Mortgage where he originated and underwrote senior debt, mezzanine and equity investments.  Jason has experience across asset classes including multifamily, office, industrial, retail and hospitality and the successful investment in the preferred equity of an Arizona convenience & gas portfolio on behalf of a GMAC investment portfolio.  He has a BA from Columbia and an MBA from Anderson School at UCLA.
